March 8 - International Women's Day

March 8 is the International Day of Solidarity of Women in the Struggle for Economic, Social and Political Equality.
According to the VMF, the celebration of International Women's Day was decided in 1910 at the Second International Conference of Socialist Women (Copenhagen) at the suggestion of Clara Setkin.
Women's Day was first celebrated in 1911 in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Denmark. It was celebrated in Russia in 1913 and in Azerbaijan in 1917. Until 1914, International Women's Day was celebrated on different days. International Women's Day will be held on March 8 in Austria, Hungary, Russia, the United States and other countries. It became a tradition after the women of the countries celebrated their Solidarity Day on this date.
Since then, women in all countries have celebrated March 8 as a day of solidarity in the struggle for peace. In the former USSR since 1965, March 8 - International Women's Day - was declared a holiday.
Even after Azerbaijan gained independence, March 8 - International Women's Day - is a non-working day in the country.
